A memorial service for Colin Powell, the first Black secretary of state in U.S. history, was held at noon Friday, Nov. 4 at the Washington National Cathedral in D.C.
Powell, 84, who also served as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and national security adviser, died Oct. 18 of complications from COVID-19 while battling multiple myeloma, a rare cancer, as well as Parkinson’s disease.
