The Not My Son organization celebrated a major milestone of reaching 10,000 community members served this past weekend, at the High Point Event Center in Dallas, Texas. The event was hosted by radio personality Letitia Owens, and featured an all-star cast of community leaders, volunteers, and supporters.

The gala featured spoken word, dance, and heartwarming presentations.

“We have impacted 10,000 South Dallas, South-East Dallas community members,” said Tramonica Brown, founder and executive director of the nonprofit Not My Son.

I am most proud to say that in two short years without grants or government funding that we have been able to impact 10,000 people, with emergency response during the winter storm, with providing housing assistance, and with feeding the homeless.

The gala concluded with a special community award presented to long-time community leader Olinka Green.

“I pass the torch to you!” Green proclaimed to Brown, then they emotionally embraced each other with tears streaming down from both their eyes.
