As the tax season swings into full gear, many Houstonians find themselves facing the daunting task of filing their taxes. But fret not, because there’s a wealth of free resources available to make the process smoother and less stressful.

One such resource is BakerRipley, a non-profit organization operating 27 tax centers across Houston since 2009. Nestled in southwest Houston, these centers are staffed with dedicated volunteers ready to assist individuals and families earning up to $58,000 per year. With no appointments necessary and centers open through April 15.

Whether you prefer in-person assistance or virtual services, BakerRipley has you covered. Just make sure to gather all your necessary paperwork before heading in to avoid any delays in the process.

In addition to BakerRipley, the IRS is also offering a convenient online filing service called Direct File. Available in 12 states, including Texas, Direct File is perfect for those with simple tax situations, such as standard deductions and W-2 forms.

Since 2009, they have prepared over $480,000 in tax returns and returned over $675,000,000 to the pockets of Houstonians.

According to recent data, Texas ranks among the top ten states eagerly awaiting their tax refunds. These resources will ensure that you get your taxes done on time and without stress.
